After losing her son, Alex Laliberte, in December of 2008, Jody relocated to California to try to heal and create a “new normal” for herself. When in Chicago, she’s very busy connecting with new people that have lost loved ones to overdose and has even organized a “Mom’s Dinner” that brings together mothers who have lost children to overdose across Chicagoland. Jody is passionate about connecting people with services and support. In California, she volunteers at The Hospice Center and The Senior Center, as well as working on projects for Live4Lali remotely.

I have a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Management from Purdue University. My Juris Doctor (Law degree) is from John Marshall Law School in 1975. I have been practicing law in Illinouis since 1976 and my office is in Arlington Heights. My area of concentration is residential real estate. Previously I spent over 20 years as a trial lawyer. I live in Buffalo Grove with my wife Laurie and have lived there for 32 years. Laurie and I have been married 37 years and we have two sons, Adam, 31 and Daniel, 34. My involvement with Live4Lali initially stems from my son Daniel who has been battling his substance addiction for many years. Laurie and I have been attending Families Anonymous meetings weekly for 4.5 years. Sadly, we have attended too many memorial and funeral services for young people over the past several years. I am passionate about educating families as to what to watch for and where/how to get help for their substance users and for themselves. Most of all, I am proud to be on the Board of Directors of Live4Lali.

My name is Terri Bartlett and I currently live in Northern Illinois with my amazing boyfriend, Jon, and the best furry friend a girl could ask for, Godzilla. My journey started a little over 2 years ago when my son, my only child, lost his battle to heroin. Mike passed away 4 days after his 22nd birthday. As I lay in bed with my son as he was taking his last breath I promised him that I would never give up fighting the battle he had fought so hard to beat. My dream used to be, “if I could just save one.” Well, one is no longer enough for me. I love to spend time with my family, friends and fellow advocates. By helping others I am learning to understand my son’s own addiction.

My name is Genevieve and I live in Arlington Heights with my amazing husband Kurt, my 3 kids, Chris 19, Sebastian,17 and Genna Bella, 12, plus our dogs, Sugar & Luci. Our family’s journey with Chris’s addiction began when he was 14. He is currently in recovery for heroin addiction. I became very active and proactive with advocacy while Chris was in treatment. We know that Chris’ addiction is forever, so I wanted to educated and advocate my myself, my family and my community. I will never stop advocating, supporting and of course, loving my son.
